Cloud or not cloud? This time it's about one of the hottest topics in archiving.
Interview with Benny Schröder (Head of Development & Delivery)
Why do you think SAP archiving on Azure is an important topic?
The fact that it is an important topic does not come from me or our development department, but rather from very specific customer inquiries. We see that Microsoft is currently doing a great job in the SAP environment: the technology is very good, the proximity to SAP is right, and the contract terms also seem attractive. This is how companies are approaching us and we have already been able to carry out some projects on Microsoft Azure. Besides that, we are of course excited about how kgs tia® harmonizes with Azure.
2. can you please name the magic word that people should know in connection with tia® on Azure?
There is not one, but at least three: lean architecture, containerization and legal compliance. We've been on the market with the former for more than twenty years: at kgs, there are no huge functional kits for workflows and the like, and this is now proving its worth in the cloud world as well - everything is set up to be lean and performance-driven. Containerization pushes this approach in the truest sense of the word, creates a cloud-native environment and makes "pop-up archives" possible. New instances can be "popped up" in the blink of an eye, depending on the volume of operations. And above all the fascinating technology, for me, is the issue of legal security - this is less about magic and more about absolute clarity, which we create with tia®.
3. if Microsoft Azure is the Big Elephant among cloud providers, what is tia®?
**laughs** That's a nice trap marketing set for me: Perhaps a gerbil whispering the important info in the elephant's ear; but at the same time, a squirrel diligently gathering and never forgetting where the nuts are, and the eagle keeping track of the important business documents....
