Cross-SAP document search and archiving in SAP withZADOC.
kgs has now significantly expanded its ZADOC solution, which was introduced in 2013. New features include a web client, the ZADOC Remote API interface for external use of functions such as linking and indexing, storage, search and document access) and an attribute editor. The latest ZADOC version allows document search with document object or attribute oriented access.
ZADOC is based on the SAP standard components ArchiveLink™ and DVS and is fully integrated into the SAP system landscape. The software package, which can be implemented with little effort, supplements SAP-based document storage and retrieval processes with functions that the SAP standard does not offer and that are classically only available in dedicated ECM/DMS systems. It can be operated "stand alone" or as an extension of the Content Server, kgs storage-based system for document management and archiving in SAP.
SAP-supported document archiving scenarios can be flexibly set up with ZADOC using easy-to-use customizing tools. SAP users can view ERP-related incoming and outgoing documents - either via their SAP interface or via the application interfaces that ZADOC provides specifically for this purpose. In addition to the comprehensive search functions, extended storage scenarios are also available. Highlights are an automated linking of documents to several SAP business objects, their versioning without using SAP DMS and the management of documents without SAP reference.
The specific data and documents in ZADOC are protected from unauthorized access with the help of a separate SAP authorization object. In this way, the assignment and restriction of authorizations for individual users or user groups can be regulated as usual on the basis of the SAP authorization concept (assignment of user roles), even in the case of scenarios with non-SAP documents. Since all customizing settings are integrated into the SAP transport system, users can set up and test ZADOC scenarios independently and then put them into productive operation.
